This belt buckle was created both as a symbol of pride in my involvement with Stanford’s Product Realization Lab and as a project to gain experience in additional manufacturing processes. The pattern for the sand cast buckle was created on the ShopBot CNC router. A patina was applied to the cast buckle and then sanded and buffed to a glossy polish. A hinged loop was then bent out of welding filler rod to attach the buckle to a belt. Due to the sand casting process, it was easy to make several more buckles for other members of the PRL community.
